With the housing market showing a rise for the first time in months people may once again be considering shall i sell my house or just make it better. With many still not sure how the market is going to go I thought I would look at the centre piece or heart to any house the Kitchen. Whether you have a fitted kitchen a bespoke handmade kitchen or an individually chosen number of kitchen units, the space needs to work for you.

It may appear like small things but anything that you consider doesn’t work for you should be noted down and put aside ready for when you really do start kitchen planning. A kitchen when laid out properly makes working within it a real joy rather than having the usual conflicts of not being able to stand somewhere without being in the way. By making sure that a kitchen has spaces within it that people can chill in and at the same time refining the work areas to work more intuitively can make all the difference to this most central of hubs.

Fitted kitchens should only be purchased if you know that the individual selling you that specific style of kitchen knows how a kitchen should work and that some things will work and other things wont. From the cooker itself there should be a really defined working triangle that gives you space to prepare food, an area to cook the food and a space to wash and get rid of the leftovers and preparation cast off’s. Any job that you do is easier if you have the right tools to do it with, in this way you can make sure that any tasks you do in the kitchen can either be quick ones or just long extended enjoyable experiences.

Personally with most fitted kitchens I have carried out any cooking in the main downfall I have found with them is that they are frequently really difficult to negotiate around. Making it extremely difficult to work fluidly and in some instances safely, we have a little lad and you need an area to be safe so that any children aren’t tripped over or stood on or worse have something spilt on them. Design can always ensure that things like this don’t happen with the addition of individual areas you can make sure you have a space that can be just for eating and an area you can separate off with a simple gate to make sure you can work safely.
